Dress Rehearsals

In our 129th season, you can attend a total of four regular morning public dress rehearsals and one special on the New Year’s Eve. The latter is the first of four appearances including the New Year’s Even afternoon concert and the two concerts on New Year’s Day. It is more festive than regular dress rehearsals, so the ticket price is different.

All regular public dress rehearsals are on weekdays and are introduced by a brief talk by one of the orchestra players. The musical presentation that follows is entirely in the hands of the conductor, who may interrupt or comment on the playing of a work, or who may rehearse certain passages after they have been played through. We ask that audience members respect the conductor’s right to finish rehearsing the programme for the evening’s concert.
