CCMS – Subscription Series

The Czech Society for Chamber Music (CSCM) opens its 130th anniversary season. The dramaturgy of 28 concerts divided into five cycles is truly varied this year. Look forward to works by Dvořák, Smetana and Mozart, as well as contemporary composers such as Lera Auerbach and Petr Popelka. Petr Popelka is this year's curator and, in addition to his role as composer, he will also appear as double bassist and pianist.

Subscription Series I • Six evening concerts

Subscription Series I • Six evening concerts

Series I will begin festively with the same programme heard 130 years ago (almost to the day) at the first concert of the Czech Chamber Music Society. This series will offer the most diverse programming of all, ranging from the Renaissance to the music of living composers.

Subscription Series II • Six evening concerts

Subscription Series II • Six evening concerts

Conductor, composer, double bass player, pianist – this year’s curator Petr Popelka can boast all of these attributes and will reveal multiple aspects of his artistry to Czech Chamber Music Society audiences. The first concert of Series II will feature his Clarinet Quintet (with the Fritz Busch Quartett, an ensemble of players from the Dresden Staatskapelle), and we will hear him as a double bass player at the February concert when he will join with the Elphier Quartett.

Recitals • Four concerts

Recitals • Four concerts

This year, the Recital Series is appearing in Czech Chamber Music Society programming for only the fifth time. In this short period of time, however, it has already offered several top solo performers, and it will be no different in the jubilee 130th season of the Czech Chamber Music Society.

Morning Concerts • Six Saturday morning concerts

Morning Concerts • Six Saturday morning concerts

Again this year, we are inviting you to the Martinů Hall at the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague’s Lesser Town for one of our Czech Chamber Music Society series. Morning Concerts always offer programmes with diverse combinations of players, and thanks to the special environment, they have a unique atmosphere.
